Ricoh MFPs help meet the government’s sourcing program’s standards for advanced sustainability technologies and reduced cost.

Challenge

Our customer, a large government agency, wanted to roll out a department-wide print migration initiative, and sent out a request for proposal (RFP) for 290 multifunction printers (MFPs). Because they were using the government's sourcing program, the MFPs had to meet specific cost, security and sustainability requirements, such as:

Color capabilities
Flat-rate maintenance
EPEAT® recognition

After careful consideration, our solutions stood out against the other companies, thanks to the large number of affordable and environmentally sustainable products we offer.

Solution

With our wide variety of options, the customer could choose from a range of MFPs that:

Could print 20-90 pages per minute.
Met ENERGY STAR® and EPEAT requirements.
Offered security features like data overwrite, hard disk drive (HDD) encryption technologies, and access card and personal identification authentication.

Plus, the department received a flat-rate service contract, which helped eliminate unpredictable fleet-maintenance costs.

Result

Our new solutions helped meet the government’s standards for advanced sustainability technologies and reduced cost requirements of the sourcing program. The department has reduced their device-to-user ratio to 1:15. Now, they’re working on the migration of 2,200 printers with on-site personnel to further reduce the ratio to 1:14. Our future goals include implementing NSI™ AutoStore™ SecurePrint™ and Output Manager™ to help the department manage its printer fleet and improve document security.
